Vice-Chancellor’s Desk The University is a prominent place of higher learning in central India. It is named after great social reformer Sant Gadge Baba in the year 2005. Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University celebrated its silver jubilee during the year 2008. Western Vidarbha plays significant role in development of the state. Role of the University is of paramount importance in the process of teaching and learning. The University offers diverse courses in various disciplines of education including applied and professional courses. The University has great standing in quality research at various levels. This University has considered education, research & development as the important activities.The University library is also digitalized, having more than 10,000 e-Journals. It has grown up from 67 colleges and 49 examinations in 1983 to 404 affiliated colleges and 480 examinations in 2011. The student’s enrollment has grown up from 27 thousand to 2.34 lacs now. More than 1600 research scholars had completed their doctoral research. The University has 470 acres of single campus and housed in learning friendly buildings. It has developed five water ponds under rain-water harvesting. The campus has variety of medicinal plants along with others. The University has been honored with various awards by Government and other organizations in diversified fields. Our university was the first runner-up in the Inter University Research Festival ‘Avishkar’ last year. We have taken a great leap in the area of national voluntary services, as well as games and sports together with cultural activities. The participation of the students in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities has been recognized at the national level. We have been organizing Inter- Collegiate Research Festival every year for inculcating research culture and original thinking in the University. Such type of activity is essential in the era of openness and globalization, especially when we are moving towards the knowledge-based society. We have also started career counselling centre for guiding students regarding academic programmes and helping them to provide information regarding various career options. Best wishes!
