Subject : Charter for Citizens.

 

 

It is notified for the information of all concerned that the “CHARTER FOR CITIZENS” has been framed by the University pin order t  have a sort of the rapport between the University and the Citizens who form part of the ethos of Amravati University, has prepared a charter for citizens. Further it is notified that Charter for Citizens will come in force from the date of its publication and it is applicable to all affiliated Colleges, teaching departments and administrative sections of Amravati University.

 

CHARTER FOR CITIZENS

 

 

The Amravati University was established on 1st May, 1983 by the act passed by the Maharashtra State legislature which states in no uncertains term the necessity and objectives of the establishment of this University. It was in 1994 that Maharashtra Government enacted an act for all the universities of State of Maharashtra to secure a sort of uniformity in the working of the various universities of Maharashtra and that act is known as “ the Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994”. This university is being regulated as per this act since then.

 

The University caters to the Academic needs of higher education of the five districts of Vidarbha Region viz- Amravati, Yavatmal, Akola, Buldhana and Washim. The Amravati University, in order to have a sort of the rapport between the University and the Citizens who form part of the ethos of Amravati University, has prepared a charter of citizens.

 

Since, the academic atmosphere and the academic ethos believes in the happy versatility of knowledge and the welcoming of all good ideas and suggestions; and since the university believes in the democratic way of living and thinking, the University welcomes the ideas and suggestions it receives from the various sections of the people. Since it is a firm belief of Amravati University that a University has  to have a pro-people attitude; the University has decided to frame the charter of citizens for extending them certain rights  for the reciprocal flow of co-operation and development.

 

 

 THE CHARTER OF CITIZENS :

 

(i) The right of the citizens to suggest constructive suggestions. The University believes in keeping its doors open for all the citizens for making constructive          suggestions. The citizens have a right to put forth suggestions for the consideration of the University.

(ii)  The right of the citizens to put forth their Grievances. The citizens forming part of the jurisdiction of Amravati University shall have a right to submit their grievances, if any, before the Registrar of the University for the redressal of their grievances. On the decision of the Registrar they shall have right  to appeal to the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor as a final appellate authority.

 

(iii) The right of the citizens for information. The Charter enjoins the citizens to extract whatever information they want about the University by way to their right and the university shall immediately address itself to their demand.

 

Be it known to all that this charter has been framed by the university for the citizens for maintaining a very healthy democratic atmosphere between the university and the citizens and the University vows to respect this charter.
